Welcome to Pregnant Paleo at 36 weeks pregnant.
This is that moment when you realise that in just 4 short weeks that you are going to be welcoming a new bundle of joy into the world. Even though you will love your baby to bits the first thing that needs to be remembered (or experienced for the first time) is that it will be the most tired that you will ever be in your life.
I am not talking hangover tired but super tired. This is when you feel so tired that even walking from one room to another will be a challenge. There is absolutely nothing you can do about the lack of sleep though; it is a fact of life with a newborn. Then there is everyone wanting to come around to see the baby and you having to entertain the idea.
Yet you will read every nutritionists article that says for optimal health that you must have 8 hours sleep a night.
Yeah we should be so lucky!
But the one thing you can do is make sure that you eating like the healthiest person on earth. That way at least you will be getting energy from your food rather than from your sleep. Also learn to sleep when your baby sleeps so that you are getting as much sleep as you possibly can.
I plan to eat super healthy and have a 100% Paleo lifestyle for the sleepless night period. This will just give me another boost for my body and also help my baby get the best ever breast milk.
It also means that when I am passed the sleepless night period I will be feeling really fit and healthy and will also be able to manage the exercise and the day to day life that comes with having a small child.
But of course I am also 36 weeks pregnant and I still have cravings that I need to deal with. So I am not going to be perfect right now. But for every bad thing that I have I will make sure I have at least 6 good things.
Therefore my dinner this evening (just after typing this) will be slow cooked chicken salad with avocado and lettuce. Yet earlier on today I had some crumpets with melted butter and soft cheese on. This was clearly all for the baby and not for me!
