Welcome to Paleo when all you want to do is eat a Big Mac.
I used to get a lot of cravings for fast food. It could be after I had a lot of exercise, when I was tired and just wanted to comfort eat and most recently when I was thinking that I hadn’t had any for about a month and it was wrong not to.
I am not saying I ate fast food and Big Mac’s everyday or anything like that but I still liked to have them regularly. In fact it was probably a 3-4 week staple. Though, when I look back to 10 years ago when I used to have a McDonalds for breakfast every Sunday I do believe I had improved.
So how do you go from having one every 3-4 weeks after having loads of cravings to not having them at all?
It is amazing what a difference it can make to you to have an avocado once a day. There are many people that don’t eat avocados because they believe that they are high in calories and are going to cause weight gain.
But the truth is that avocados are full of good fats and if you eat avocados your body will be getting the fat that it needs and this will mean that it wont have cravings for saturated fats.
Give Your Body What It Needs
Your body wants fats, it needs fats and it also needs lots of fresh fruit and vegetables in order to function properly. So if you are not giving your body one of those things then it will turn to bad foods that do nothing for it to get its kick.
If you get a lot of cravings for a Big Mac or similar Fast Food then I would suggest that you increase your vegetables and your good fats. Cook lots of seasonal vegetables with some coconut oil or have lots of salad with olive oil drizzled on top and you would be amazed by the difference it would make.
Make Your Own
Its amazing how delicious your own fast food can be if you make it yourself. Make your own burgers and then have it with lots of avocado and you could even use sweet potatoes as your burger bun.
Or if you love KFC then how about making your own popcorn chicken with sweet potatoes or your own vegetables into balls to make an alternative for chicken nuggets?
The truth is once you start experimenting with recipes the choices are endless.
