More and more studies are showing that the paleo diet is the key to fat loss. This eating plan appears to be more effective than it was previously thought. Most dieters find it easy to follow because there is no need to count calories, combine foods, or purchase expensive supplements.
A recent study conducted on 39 women has found that those who followed the paleo diet lost about 4.3 percent of their body weight within four weeks. Those following a standard Australian diet lost only 1.6 percent of their body weight. Additionally, paleo dieters lost an average of two kilograms more during the study compared to the other group.
The subjects who followed a standard Australian diet had to increase their fruit and vegetable intake, eat more grains, and reduce fat. Those on the paleo diet consumed significantly larger amounts of fat during the study. Yet, they’ve lost the most weight. Although further research is needed to assess the impact of the paleo diet on long term, the results are promising.
Paleolithic diets encourage the consumption of fruits, vegetables, eggs, nuts, lean meat, fish, and other foods presumed to be available to our hunter-gatherer ancestors. Caveman did not suffer from the diseases that affect modern humans. Researchers believe that their eating habits could be the reason behind their good health.
Hundreds of studies indicate that going paleo can improve athletic performance, prevent and treat acne, lower heart disease risk, and keep diabetes at bay. The risk of obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, stroke, and atherosclerosis is lower among those who follow the paleo diet. They are also less likely to develop osteoporosis, arthritis, and even cancer. While it’s true that our ancestors died young, it was due to a harsh environment and poor living conditions, not because of disease.
The paleo diet improves overall health in more than one way. First of all, it promotes the consumption of whole foods. Secondly, it eliminates processed foods, such as refined sugar, potato chips, pizza, ice cream, and soft drinks. Thirdly, it bans gluten, dairy, and grains, which are a primary cause of inflammatory diseases and food allergies.
This eating plan is high in protein, essential fatty acids, low-glycemic index carbohydrates, phytochemicals, antioxidants, and soluble fiber. Calorie counting is not necessary. Most dieters lose weight naturally once they embrace this lifestyle. Additionally, their health improves dramatically within weeks. Some report younger looking skin, pain relief, better digestion, and increased overall strength.
