Welcome to Paleo at Christmas time and a big Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from us all at Heavy2Healthy.net.
Right now in many households around the world that they are all talking about starting their diet the day after tomorrow. Never mind eating healthy now they are all for January or the end of December and right now doesn’t actually matter at all.
But why not?
When everyone else is stuffing their faces over Christmas and not eating anything that is healthy you could be eating healthy now and instead of collapsing on your couch you could be looking after yourself and enjoying the festive season just as much as anyone else.
What should you be eating?
I always say the best thing about Christmas is the turkey and out of all poultry it is one of the healthiest that you’ll ever find. Cook it with coconut oil and duck fat instead of plain butter and you have a great starting point.
Then spend the entire Christmas season living off your turkey leftovers with all kinds of different meal ideas!
Then when it comes to snacks and general Christmas fun make your own Paleo versions. Make cauliflower pizzas, healthy chocolate truffles, chocolate muffins without flour and make alcohol free cocktails that all your guests will love!
Over all have a good time and eat lots of great food, the only difference is that it will be real food done the Paleo way and you will enjoy it so much more because you will know what is in it and the effort you put in to make it.
But I’m going out for dinner?
Then plan what you are going to have in advance. It will then take the stress out of it and you can then relax and enjoy your day.
If you’re going to someone else’s house for Christmas then take extras with you. Rely on the person in question that is hosting the party (they would be offended otherwise) to provide the food and drink, but you will just bump it up with your bits and pieces. Take your own snacks for everyone to enjoy, your own puddings, your own drinks and then you will know if you pass on their main side dishes, that you will still have plenty to go at.
Though if you’re left with a lack of choice you can always have something planned for supper for when you get home to fill you up. Or just have a small amount of food that is not Paleo as it wont ruin your life and gives you a mid way compromise.
