The basic principal of the Paleo diet is not to eat ANYTHING that has been processed and while for the most part it is possible to stick to this mantra, sometimes you wander slightly into the area of food that has been processed but is not quite so bad for us – like greek yogurt.

Even if you’re not lactose intolerant and not worried about the potential weight gain and higher insulin levels, dairy still may be a bad choice for many paleo dieters. This is because cows probably ate genetically modified corn and soy. Because milk is skimmed it reduces the saturated fat and is also pasteurized resulting in some enzymes and beneficial bacteria becoming ineffective. Grain fed cows will produce milk much higher in omega-6 fatty acids and lower in omega-3 fatty acids resulting in inflammation. On the other hand, grass-fed, pasture-raised cows will produce a milk of a much higher quality.
Is Greek Yogurt Paleo?
