Anne Hathaway has switched from veganism to the paleo diet. She decided to make this change while filming the sci-fi movie Interstellar. The popular Hollywood actress was an avid vegan ever since her role in Catwoman. However, she recently stated that living without meat was making her feel sluggish and fatigued. One day she simply felt the need to eat fish, so she did it. Soon after, her energy levels went through the roof.
In a recent interview, Hathaway stated that veganism was draining her energy and that she just didn’t feel healthy or good. Years ago, she was so enthusiastic about the vegan diet that served a vegan menu at her wedding. Anne isn’t the only celebrity who embraced the paleo lifestyle. Bill Clinton, Matthew McConaughey, Eva La Rue. Aaron Rodgers, and Ursula Grobler are avid followers of this eating plan. Just like Anne Hathaway, thousands of people claim they felt better after making the switch.
Vegan diets are not necessarily unhealthy, but make it hard to meet your daily nutrient requirements. Additionally, they promote the consumption of legumes and grains, which increase the risk of leaky gut, inflammation, depression, and several types of cancer. These foods contain anti-nutrients that affect overall health. Another problem is that most vegan diets are high in carbs and low in protein. Eating large amounts of carbs causes blood sugar spikes, insulin resistance, obesity, and inflammatory disorders. A low protein intake affects muscle growth, slows recovery, and decreases metabolic rate.
Anne Hathaway not only follows the paleo diet, but also stays active and exercises several times a week. Before filming The Dark Knight Rises, she hated working out. Now she spends hours in the gym, practices hot yoga, and takes dance lessons. She also lifts weights and uses stability balls for balance training. To build muscle and lose fat for her role as Catwoman, Anne worked out for 90 minutes a week. Her gym sessions included dance training, stunt training, interval training, steady state cardio, and flexibility exercises. Trail running was part of her routine too.
Thanks to the paleo diet, Anne keeps her protein intake high and has the energy needed for intense training. Her daily meals consist of fish, dark leafy greens with herbs and spices, almonds, avocado, dark chocolate, and poultry. The actress has up to seven small meals a day and consumes 1,500 to 1,800 calories. Her favorite snack between meals is nut butter, a Paleo staple.
