Welcome to healthy fats and why they’re essential for Paleo living.
I wanted to talk from a personal point of view today and how healthy fats have transformed my life for the better. Prior to discovering Paleo I was on a diet. I lost weight and kept it off. But there was one problem and that was that I felt good but I didn’t feel amazing.
I then did a few weeks on Paleo where I actually had healthy fats in my diet. I enjoyed avocados and coconut oil for the very first time and realised how amazing olive oil was in a salad dressing instead of having a big spoonful of mayonnaise. The hubby still loves his mayonnaise though and I am slowly talking him round!
Then when I took a break from Paleo I realised how much my body needed its healthy fats and that they had made a huge difference on my body. I had clear skin and I had the most energy I have ever had in my life.
But the problem is that not enough people are jumping on board and realising that these healthy fats should be part of everyday life. They see the calories that comes with healthy fats and then they run in the opposite direction.
I remember mentioning to my mum that I was addicted to avocados as my main pregnancy craving and she warned me off them because of the calories in them. But as a pregnant woman (and really like everyone else for that matter) if you don’t get your healthy fats in your diet then you are much more likely to turn to the likes of unhealthy fats to fill up your craving.
I notice that my parents diet is very high in bad fats and that they have a very high butter count which really worries me. Butter seems to be the answer to everything and hopefully one day they will swap it for a good fat instead.
This means that just by having avocado instead of butter you will not only feel better but it will stop you from wanting to have things in your diet that are not Paleo.
On top of this the diet quote is spot on “if you eat fat you’ll burn fat”. So if you are on a mission to lose weight via the Paleo diet then there is no better way of doing it.
